The Wizard of Oz | Victor Fleming | USA | 1939| 102 minutes
Explore the themes embedded throughout David R. Harper: Good Morning Sweetheart with this screening of the classic film, the Wizard of Oz. The sepia-tinted world and dream-like journey of The Wizard of Oz mirrors the aesthetics and surrealism present throughout David Harper’s works, speaking to some of the deeper themes in his exhibit.
Organized by the Teen Forum, this film was selected to invite a comparison of themes like surrealism, longing, dreaming, and the uncanny across both Good Morning Sweetheart and The Wizard of Oz, while prompting viewers to consider how their own perceptions of these concepts relate to David R. Harper’s work.
