About

Slick brings together artworks that conceptualize the body as fluid, altered, and expansive. The exhibition pairs signature works of art from MMoCA’s permanent collection with contemporary works of art to showcase how artists continue to use abstraction, framing, and concealment to fragment and reimagine the body.

The works of art in Slick move beyond realistic representation by showing  bodies that are flexible, shifting, and open-ended. They alternate between restraint and release, control and freedom, challenging fixed ideas of identity. The exhibition suggests that the hidden or mysterious form may be the most sensual.
