Köln 75 | Ido Fluk | Germany, Poland | 2025 | 117 minutes

The concert that became the best selling solo jazz album in history, Keith Jarrett’s The Köln Concert, almost didn’t happen. Jarrett (John Magaro) was scheduled to perform in Cologne, Germany in January 1975. The concert was conceived, orchestrated, and saved from disaster by an unstoppable teenage concert promoter, Vera Brandes (Mala Emde). Brandes had to convince Jarrett to perform after she failed to provide a Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano. Köln 75 captures the compelling back story of Jarrett’s improvised concert at the Cologne Opera House.

Presented by the Madison Jazz Festival 2026, a citywide celebration of Jazz which takes place June 19–27, 2026. For the complete lineup of concerts and events, visit https://artlitlab.org/events/madison-jazz-fest-2026.
