MMoCA Galleries and Store Closed

In response to local and national recommendations on limiting the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is closing its galleries and store through March 31.

The museum is also postponing or cancelling events through mid-April.  Chroma, the biennial artist- and designer-led fundraising event scheduled for April 17, has been cancelled.  Ticketholders will be contacted with more information about refunds (or how to donate the ticket price to the museum).

Staff members will continue working remotely. We ask that people who need to contact the museum use email or the contact us form on the website and exercise patience.

MMoCA relies on the generous support of our community to maintain our free admission policy and free education events and does not receive direct funding from the city of Madison or the state of Wisconsin.  We ask that you consider giving to the museum to help sustain our organization during this challenging time.

Museum staff are monitoring the situation closely and will announce any additional programming changes through our regular channels, including this website, email newsletter, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

Thank you for  your understanding and support.

PARKING

The museum does not offer on-site parking; however there are a variety of parking options in downtown Madison. The City of Madison’s website is useful, providing information and a map as well as a website that shows which lots have parking available.

OVERTURE CENTER FOR THE ARTS

MMoCA is adjacent to Overture Center for the Arts, which offers a robust schedule of concerts, performances, and exhibitions for regional audiences.

WINTER WEATHER

MMoCA will close when Madison Metro cancels bus service due to weather.  MMoCA’s rooftop sculpture garden may be closed due to inclement weather, including icy conditions.

PHOTOGRAPHY AT MMoCA

MMoCA encourages all guests to share their museum experience online and tag us whenever possible: @mmocamadison or #mmocamadison.

Personal, non-commercial photography (without flash) is welcomed in the galleries, Sculpture Garden, and other public spaces of the museum. MMoCA reminds guests to be aware of the artwork and to be mindful not to disrupt other visitors or block pathways.

More involved photography, involving professional photographers, equipment, or set-up must be discussed with MMoCA staff in advance and may require a small fee. Please refer to MMoCA’s photo policies for more detail on photography at the museum.
