About Gallery Night
Gallery Night is a long-time Madison arts tradition that showcases the city’s vibrant arts community. Organized each May and October by MMoCA, Gallery Night offers art lovers and art novices alike an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of exhibitions, opening receptions, special events, and demonstrations at venues throughout the city. During Gallery Night, dozens of venues open their doors to invite the public in to see and shop for original artwork.
Gallery Night takes place from 5-9 pm on the first Fridays of May and October, though some participating venues set their own hours. All venues participating in Gallery Night are open free of charge, unless otherwise noted.
Art lovers are encouraged to take artful photos of their favorite Gallery Night sights and enter them in MMoCA’s Instagram photo contest. To enter:
1) Visit a participating venue during Gallery Night on May 3
2) Snap a creative photo that shows off Madison’s vibrant arts community
3) Upload it to Instagram account and tag #MadGalleryNight and @mmocamadison.
Participate in Gallery Night
Gallery Night is an excellent opportunity to promote your organization and emphasize your support for the arts while reaching a large and diverse audience. Gallery Night offers promotional exposure for participating venues, and fosters excitement for the Madison arts scene while highlighting its many unique members.
October After Party
Each October, following Gallery Night, MMoCA invites patrons back downtown for a celebratory party. Featuring live music from a DJ, complimentary snacks, a cash bar by Fresco Rooftop Restaurant & Lounge, and hands-on art activities, this party is not to be missed. MMoCA galleries stay open late so that attendees can enjoy art after dark. The Gallery Night After Party is free for members, $5 for non-members.
