Application and Entry Form

The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in partnership with the Fine Arts Department of the Madison Metropolitan School District invites art teachers to participate in the 2025 Young At Art exhibition, on display in the Museum’s State Street Gallery from February 13–April 6, 2025. The opening celebration will be on Sunday, February 16 from 1-2:30 pm.

Each fine arts teacher at MMSD is invited to submit up to three works of art created by a student. Individual or group works are accepted. Two- and three-dimensional works, as well as digital media, are accepted. Works on paper will be matted or mounted by MMoCA for display and paintings on canvas will be installed as delivered; three-dimensional works will be installed as appropriate.

Please contact the Education Department if you intend to submit works of art requiring electronic support (such as video or multimedia files) as a limited number of iPads and screens are available. Please also inform staff of any 2-dimensional work of art that is larger than 36 x 40 inches, or other large-scale work as gallery space is limited.

After filling out the online form, MMoCA Education staff will coordinate the time for teachers to drop off the artwork at the museum throughout mid-December. Artwork must be delivered to the Museum or Doyle building by the end of the day on Friday, December 20 to be included in the exhibition. MMoCA is unable to pick up artwork directly from schools this year.

When dropped off at the museum, each artwork must be accompanied by the paper entry form (preferably attached to the back of the artwork).

Artwork submitted to Young at Art does not fall under the museum’s fine art insurance policy. Professional installation staff will handle all artwork with extreme care for the duration that the artwork is displayed and returned so as not to damage or alter the work; security protocols remain the same for Young at Art as for other exhibitions.

Education staff will reach out to guardians for pick-up instructions (likely a party on a Saturday afternoon in mid-April); teachers may pick up group projects at the end of the exhibition.

Submission of a work of art constitutes permission to reproduce it for publicity purposes, in its entirety or as a detail, and for the press to contact the teacher and/or a student (through their guardian) for a potential interview. Parents/students may decline to be interviewed.
