Tossing a Friend (Melinda) (1, 2, and 3)
Martin Kersels
1996
C-prints on Fujiflex
33" x 45 1/2" each
As a video, installation, and performance artist, Martin Kersels often uses his body in his artwork. In these three photographs, Kersels—who is 6’ 7” and 300 lbs.—is shown launching his friend Melinda Ring into the air fifteen times. The resulting images document the joy of soaring through the air and highlight their friendship and trust in one another.
