Corey’s Tavern League series features Wisconsin’s small-town bars that can evoke feelings of nostalgia. Corey captures the warm red light that engulfs the interior of At Random, a small cocktail lounge in Milwaukee that opened in 1964. With vintage décor reminiscent of garish 1960s Las Vegas cocktail bars, Corey’s photograph recalls a bygone era. The notable absence of people in the composition further invites a dreamlike comparison, as though the artist photographed a memory of a place instead of the place itself.
