the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art will present Design MMoCA 2014

April 25 – May 4, 2014

MADISON, WI— This year, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) will present the unique art and design event, Design MMoCA. The fourth biennial Design MMoCA will be on view April 25 – May 4, 2014.  This event showcases Madison’s talented local design community while celebrating the museum’s permanent collection.  Designers from a variety of disciplines have been selected by a jury of design experts to participate in this creative and high-profile opportunity. Selected designers choose an artwork from MMoCA’s rich permanent collection to use as inspiration for an original project on view during this 10-day event.

The projects created by Design MMoCA participants will be exhibited in the museum’s galleries and lobby for 10 days, open free to the public. 2014 projects will include fantasy product design, inspired interiors, inventive textile patterns, large-scale graphics, and interactive media installations. During the event, the museum will also host a variety of related activities, including a public meet-and-greet with the designers, gallery talks, and more.  Design MMoCA 2014 will open with a Preview Gala, beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
