Gallery Talk with S.V. Medaris
Saturday, February 28 • 1 PM • Main Galleries • Free Admission
Since 1998, artist S.V. Medaris has raised dogs, cats, chickens, peafowl, turkeys and pigs on a farm in the Driftless area of Southern Wisconsin. Drawing inspiration from this life, Medaris creates works of art that focus on themes of rural life and domestic animal husbandry, the relationships we have with livestock and they with each other, and their unique characteristics.
Surrounded by the exhibition, A Broad Sweep of Sky, S.V. Medaris joins MMoCA’s Assistant Curator, Eleanor Pschirrer-West for a conversation about creating contemporary art in a rural environment and the legacy of the Regionalists.
