Artist Opportunities
MMoCA does not review unsolicited proposals for exhibitions or to review artists’ portfolios, but does offer several opportunities that connect artists with the community.
The best way to keep up to date on these opportunities is to follow MMoCA on social media at @mmocamadison and by regularly visiting our website.
Art Fair on the Square
One of MMoCA’s signature events, Art Fair on the Square features 400+ artists from around the country showcasing their creations around Wisconsin’s state capitol. Art Fair on the Square attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors and happens the first full weekend after Independence Day in July. Applications are juried by a panel of rotating judges and open in November the year prior.

The Wisconsin Triennial
Every three years, MMoCA puts out an open call for artists across the state of Wisconsin. The curatorial team then select the work for the exhibition by reviewing submissions and select studio visits. The next Wisconsin Triennial is in 2028 and applications will be available in late 2027.
