Quartets Recording
Gladys Nilsson
1965
watercolor
12" x 13 1/2"
In her early work, Nilsson would pair male and female figures so each person would have a companion. In Quartets Recording, two quartets are gathered around a retro microphone—like the kind found in music recording studios—that hangs above their heads. The women all have their eyes fixed on the microphone, while the men keep their eyes closed.
