MMoCA staff discuss exhibition design during a mini-Museum session at MMoCA.
MMoCA's mini-Museum program introduces youth to art museum functions and teaches them how to create an exhibition in their own school. Children in grades four through twelve visit the museum to interview staff, study operations, and tour exhibitions. They apply this research to install an exhibition, publish a catalog, host an opening, give gallery tours, promote their exhibition, and act as security guards. Some schools have created their own galleries with proper security, insurance, and climate control; these safeguards enable the schools to schedule exhibitions and borrow works from the museum's collection.
