MADISON, WI–The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is filled with creative energy. In the next few days, the museum will offer a film series kick-off; Gallery Night with a Harvest Event, trunk show, and After Party; and Kids’ Art Adventures. Please see below the schedule below for the exciting week ahead.
TONIGHT, Wednesday, October 4 • 7–9 pm Spotlight Cinema (season kick-off)
The Unknown Girl (La Fille inconnue) (2016, Belgium/France, 106 min., Digital)

Adèle Haenel gives a spellbinding performance as a doctor who becomes fixated on solving a crime that occurs outside the door of her clinic. MMoCA’s Spotlight Cinema is free for MMoCA members and $7 per screening for the general public.
Friday, October 6 • 5–9 pm Gallery Night
Organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Gallery Night offers a wide variety of visual art offerings throughout the city. This event is free.
Friday, October 6 • 6–9 pm Harvest Event/MMoCA Opening
with Artwork Dedication at 6:30 pm and Artist-led Event 7–8 pm
This MMoCA opening features an interactive experience choreographed by artist Meg Mitchell. Music, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar will also be a part of this free event.
Friday, October 6 • 5–9 pm Museum Store Trunk Show
Special opportunity to see No Rules Jewelry by Wayne Farra and Maya Madden. Meet the artists and try on their gorgeous new pieces. This event is free.
Friday, October 6 • 9–11 pm Gallery Night After Party
With a dance party atmosphere created by DJ Boyfrrriend, art-making, artisanal pizza samples, and a cash bar, the MMoCA Gallery Night After Party is not to be missed. The After Party is free for MMoCA members/$5 for general admission.
Saturday, October 7 • 1–1:30 pm Drop-in Tour
Drop by MMoCA for lively and informal discussions of the exhibition Taking Sides. This 30-minute guided tour considers artists’ creative decisions and provides insight into their methods, ideas, and influences. Meet in the museum lobby. This event is free.
Sunday, October 8 • 1–2:30 pm Kids’ Art Adventures
Exhibition: Taking Sides
Kids will see how artists share their concerns for the world in Taking Sides, then try relief printmaking to create art that expresses their dreams and ideas. Kids’ Art Adventures invite children aged six to ten and an accompanying adult to make art together following lively discussions in the galleries. This event is free.
Housed in a soaring, Cesar Pelli-designed building, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art provides free exhibitions and education programs that engage people in modern and contemporary art. The museum’s four galleries offer changing exhibitions that feature established and emerging artists. The Rooftop Sculpture Garden provides an urban oasis with an incredible view. The museum is open: Tuesday through Thursday, noon–5 pm; Friday, noon–8 pm; Saturday, 10 am–8 pm; Sunday, noon–5 pm; and is closed on Mondays.
