Public Relations & Social Media Interns

Interns may work on projects such as updating social media, copywriting, editing, and assisting with press relations. Social Media responsibilities may include writing, scheduling, and publishing posts on MMoCA’s social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Additional tasks may include responding to inquiries and comments, researching best practices, and developing a social media plan for the organization to implement.

Curatorial Department

Exhibitions Interns

Interns assist with the organization of upcoming exhibitions. Tasks may include online and library research, creating labels and extended labels, generating and editing copy, and more.

Library Interns

Interns work with museum staff to design an internship that complements their studies and specific interests in library science. To be eligible, candidates must be enrolled in a graduate-level library program at an accredited American university. Library interns typically work 8 to 10 hours per week over the course of a semester, or more hours if they prefer. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but should be submitted at least six weeks prior to the intended start date.

Permanent Collection Interns

Interns work directly with the thousands of works in MMoCA’s collection. Tasks may include art handling and data entry. Experience is preferred.

Development Department

Administrative/Membership Interns

Interns assist with day-to-day museum functions and membership projects. Tasks may include answering and making calls, data entry, assisting with mailings, research, event coordination, and helping other departments with projects as needed.

Development Interns

Interns support the Museum’s fundraising efforts through projects related to program reporting, MMoCA’s business membership program, grant writing, and other outreach efforts. Tasks may include research, copywriting, data tracking and analysis, and event support.

Private Events Interns

Interns assist with marketing and social media presence for MMoCA’s room rental program. Projects include assembling and updating promotional materials, researching industry trends, scheduling and publishing posts about weddings and corporate events on social media, and analyzing survey responses.

Special Events Interns

Interns support the museum’s numerous fundraising events, such as Art Fair on the Square, MMoCA Art & Gift Fair, Hair Affair, and MMoCA Openings. Tasks may include assisting with mailings, making phone calls, volunteer coordination, data entry, and work at some evening and/or weekend events.

Education Department

Education Interns

Interns assist with research on the Museum’s exhibitions and permanent collection, development of online teaching pages, production of interactive resources for the museum’s learning centers, program promotion, and generating program statistics. An intern’s specific learning goals and background contribute to determining the focus of the experience.
