Original art and fine craft, gourmet and indulgent gifts, entertainment, creative experiences and design inspiration.

MADISON, WI—Visitors to the MMoCA Art & Gift Fair can shop the latest artworks from carefully selected artists, with wine or a warm beverage in hand, and enjoy live seasonal entertainment. Taking place November 17 and 18, the weekend before Thanksgiving, the MMoCA Art & Gift Fair is the second largest fundraiser of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA). The event supports MMoCA’s free admission and education programs, supports local artists and provides access to great work by artists from across the country, and bolsters the local economy.

As they stroll the iconic spaces of MMoCA and the Overture Center for the Arts, guests will enjoy a fun-filled weekend of relaxed shopping at nearly 100 booths filled with art, fine craft, gourmet food, and specialty gifts. They can enjoy wine and tasty beverages at two cash bars, live music, dance performances, and other festive experiences for the whole family. The MMoCA Art & Gift Fair will once again kick off Shine on Madison, the annual six-week downtown, holiday celebration, which includes an outdoor market opening after the indoor fair, light displays, and more.

This year MMoCA will offer a variety of new experiences.

  • Shoppers can sip wine as they shop! Fresco Rooftop Restaurant will offer a curated selection of wines and other delicious offerings in the MMoCA Lobby while Catering a Fresco will offer a range of wines and more at a bar on the second floor of the Overture Center, in the Promenade Lounge.
  • Families will enjoy seasonal storytelling in a stylish reading nook designed by The Century House.  Mojo’s Magic and other presenters will offer live demonstrations with fresh ideas for holiday entertaining.
  • Also new in 2018, the fair weekend begins with the Bubbly Brunch, at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant. On Saturday, November 17 from 9-10:30 am guests can enjoy champagne and mimosas, along with their delectable meal. Live music by a Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra ensemble, table prizes, and exclusive pre-crowd shopping completes the VIP experience (all for $40 a person).

Favorite traditions return such as the Silent Auction, Gourmet Galleries, and the Rediscovered Treasures & Art Sale. Also included in this year’s fair are a designer vignette, a holiday selfie booth, and more seasonal inspiration than ever before.

Artists: the Heart of the Fair

To ensure a range of high quality art and craft, artists selected for the 2018 MMoCA Art & Gift Fair were jury-chosen from nearly 200 applicants. Among the works available to shoppers are jewelry, clothing and accessories, sculpture, paintings, prints, photographs, and fine craft objects. Participating artists demonstrate sophisticated skill across a variety of media.

  • Jeweler Ann Kathryn Kehoe’s work includes earth-toned gemstones and intricate cuts. Kehoe was selected as the 2018 MMoCA Art & Gift Fair’s Featured Artist.
  • Local artist Kaoru Izushi will feature her hand-tailored and hand-loomed knitwear using all natural fibers.
  • Landscape and cityscape photographer Steve Sturgill will be showcasing his vivid prints for the first time at MMoCA.
  • Teresa Soriano’s glassworks are defined by a dimensional layering of colors, iridescence, line, and metallic inclusions.
  • Mixed media artist Gena Ollendieck manipulates a variety of materials including leather, wood, and metal in creating compelling 3D works.
  • Oakland, California based artist Robert Nehring uses reclaimed metal materials found everywhere from scrap yards to rummage sales in order to create his one-of-a-kind sculptures.

Art and craft lovers can also preview work by all the participating artists to create a must-visit list. Images at, on the MMoCA Art & Gift Fair pages.

Featured Artist

Milwaukee-based metalsmith Ann Kathryn Kehoe, has been named the 2018 MMoCA Art & Gift Fair’s Featured Artist. Kehoe combines traditional silver-smithing techniques along with inspiration from antiques, textiles and nature in creating her unique jewelry designs of lush, organic patterns and natural gemstones. Kehoe says, “Dreams continually shape my life and the objects I create. I often receive clear messages while meditating or dreaming. I use this as inspiration, translating these messages into tangible and thoughtful hand-fabricated jewelry designs. My work is intentionally created to benefit the wearer beyond material value or aesthetic pleasure; but to heal, inspire and empower.”

The featured artwork, Wildwood Bangle, will be on view and open for bidding in the MMoCA Art & Gift Fair’s Silent Auction beginning November 17.
