Fall Gallery Night

Celebrates Madison’s Bountiful Arts Scene 
October 14, 2011 ∙ 5–9 pm 

MADISON, WI —Madison’s semiannual celebration of the visual arts, Gallery Night, takes place on Friday, October 14, 2011, from 5 to 9 pm. Sixty-five venues will participate in this fall’s event. Art lovers can look forward to an evening packed with new exhibitions, new venues, demonstrations, refreshments, and celebrations.


Gallery Night is organized every spring and fall by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. This fall’s venues include museums, galleries, shops, and businesses that provide exhibition space throughout the city. Highlights include:


    • A closing reception for Eat Dessert First, works by University of Wisconsin Art Department lecturers and staff at the UW Art Department at Art Lofts Gallery;
    • The debut of Tamarack Studio & Gallery and the inaugural Gallery Night for Polka! Press, on Madison’s East Side;
    • New museum exhibitions focusing on the Civil War era, at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, and the Chicago Imagists of the 1960s and 1970s, at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art;
    • Wisconsin scenes inspired by rural areas, at Fanny Garver Gallery; by the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, at Common Wealth Gallery; and by dog walks around Dane County, at 849;
    • Displays for Day of the Dead at Chiripa, Artisan Crafts of the Americas;
    • Demonstrations of glassblowing at Studio Paran and beadmaking at Aardvark Art Glass, and a chance to throw your own bowl at Fine Earth Studio & Gallery;
    • Fiber art at Hyart Gallery, art quilts at Absolutely Art, and an Urban Wearables Trunk Show at the MMoCA Museum Store’s Urban Accessories Trunk Show.
