Conceptual

Conceptual art appeared in the late 1960s and has been an important aspect of contemporary art to the present. In its most important stylistic manifestations, it includes language—the printed or written word—often in combination with realist, expressionist, or abstract styles and unconventional media. The inclusion of text is a primary ingredient in definitions of conceptual art: the making of an idea or intellectual concept the basis of content. The ideas expressed and explored by the conceptual artist have included reflections on personal existence and the nature of art and society.
