mini-Museum

mini-Museum introduces youth to art museum functions and teaches them how to create an exhibition in their own school. Children in grades four through twelve visit the MMoCA to interview staff, study operations, and tour exhibitions. They apply this research to install an exhibition, publish a catalog, host an opening, give gallery tours, promote their exhibition, and act as security guards. Some schools have created their own galleries with proper security, insurance, and climate control which enables them to regularly schedule exhibitions and borrow works from the museum’s collection.
