Holiday Art Fair 2009

A Robust Holiday Art Fair at the
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art & Overture Center for the Arts

Friday, November 20 noon–5 pm
Saturday, November 21 10 am–5 pm
Sunday, November 22 11 am–3 pm

MADISON--The Art League of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and Overture Center for the Arts invite the public to celebrate the upcoming holiday season at Holiday Art Fair on November 20–22, 2009. This year's expanded fair will feature more than 90 fine art and gourmet vendors, seasonal decorations, snacks and light lunches, entertainment, and a sale of “rediscovered art and treasures,” providing a perfect holiday shopping opportunity for Madison and surrounding communities. Holiday Art Fair 2009 will take place in the stunning architectural spaces of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (227 State Street) and Overture Center for the Arts (201 State Street).

Artists: The Main Event
Artists participating in the Holiday Art Fair were chosen through a jury process and come from Wisconsin and beyond. Shoppers can browse among booths offering jewelry, baskets, holiday decorations, clothing, and fine craft, as well as paintings, prints and photographs. Art lovers who want to identify their own can't-miss-it list in advance of the fair can preview works by participating artists at mmoca.org; click Events/Holiday Art Fair.

The Museum Store will also be open throughout the fair. The store, which represents craft artists and jewelers from across the country, was recently named NICHE magazine's “2009 Top Retailer” in the Best Arts Nonprofit category.

Treats and Treasures
One of the fair's most popular features, the Gourmet Gallery, will return with artisan cheeses, chocolates, and holiday treats for every taste. And back by popular demand, the Rediscovered Art & Treasures Sale will offer vintage jewelry, framed and unframed paintings and prints, antique toys, and many other “pre-loved” items. The Art League will also raffle themed baskets of wine, tea, and holiday ornaments. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 each or five for $20.

Preview Luncheon
The Art League's annual Holiday Art Fair Preview Luncheon will take place on Friday, November 20. Luncheon guests will have the chance to shop at the fair before it opens to the public and enjoy a gourmet lunch in Overture Center's beautiful main lobby. Everyone is welcome. Luncheon reservations are $25 and may be placed through November 10 by calling MMoCA at 608.257.0158.
