Explore Art. Collect Experiences.

MADISON, WI --Edition MMoCA, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art's newest volunteer group, invites you to join them for the 50th annual Art Fair on the Square!

Edition MMoCA is a membership-based group bringing together art enthusiasts, art seekers, and culturally minded individuals with a common interest in expanding their relationship with contemporary art. Edition MMoCA connects its members with unique opportunities to engage with art and each other, while learning the skills of building unique personal collections and supporting MMoCA's permanent collection.

The group will offer such an opportunity during the 50th annual Art Fair on the Square. On Saturday, July 12, Edition MMoCA will host a morning event including a light breakfast at Fresco, MMoCA's rooftop restaurant, a presentation on collecting strategies suitable for an art fair, and a choice of one-hour art fair tours focusing on a variety of mediums; participants may select painting and prints; photography; functional 3D objects; sculptural 3D objects; or jewelry and wearables.

Susan Gardels, visual artist and Artist Services Manager at The Guild, Inc., will discuss why Art Fair on the Square is a perfect place to begin building an art collection or to add to an existing collection. Gardels will provide tips on how to approach artists, good questions to ask, and what collectors need to know when buying works at an art fair.

Breakfast will be available starting at 8 am, followed by the presentation at 8:30 am. After Gardels' presentation, attendees will break into small groups based on their choice of media and walk to the Capitol Square to tour the fair.

This event is free for Edition MMoCA members and $15 for non-members. Reservations are required and can me made by contacting Tracy Marks-Geib at MMoCA, at 608-257-0158 x 231 or tracy@mmoca.org. Participants should indicate the number attending and their tour medium preference.

Edition MMoCA membership is available to anyone wanting to explore contemporary art while collecting unique experiences and meeting new people! For more information on the benefits of membership or how to join, please visit www.mmoca.org and click on “Opportunities."
