Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Reaches Attendance Milestone

Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Reaches Attendance Milestone

MADISON, WI—More than 50,000 visitors have visited the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) since the museum reopened in its new facility on April 23, 2006. Like the rest of Overture Center for the Arts, the museum’s new space was designed by architect Cesar Pelli and made possible by the extraordinary generosity of W. Jerome Frautschi, a long-time friend of the arts in Madison and former board member of the museum.

Visitors to MMoCA have enjoyed the inaugural exhibitions, including Between the Lakes: Artists Respond to Madison, which sheds light on the history and culture of the city through six new works by seven artists. The exhibition will be on view through July 16. Many MMoCA visitors have also participated in tours and workshops, attended lectures and film screenings (including the current Rooftop Cinema series), and joined in the fun during the museum’s new First Fridays at MMoCA events.

The building’s glass corner icon and rooftop sculpture garden have quickly become downtown landmarks, and media attention to the building has been enthusiastic.

Full information about the museum’s exhibitions and events is available on its website, at mmoca.org.
